Back by popular demand, Moonlit Wings Productions has partnered again with the Women in Film and Video DC Talent Roundtable for the 2nd annual Mid-Atlantic Monologue SLAM and Moonlit Mixer on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Interface Media Group (1233 20th Street, NW Washington, DC 20036).
DC's finest actors of all ages, producers, directors and technicians are invited to watch the Monologue SLAM and mingle afterwards at the Moonlit Mixer. General public and friends of the arts are also welcome to attend.
Twenty lucky DC actors will be featured in the SLAM and perform for the audience plus three Special Guest Judges who give feedback following each performance.
KIMBERLY SKYRME CASTING - Kimberly Skyrme, CSA, Casting Director & Producer - HOUSE OF CARDS (Netflix), THE GIRLFRIEND EXPERIENCE (Starz), currently producing and casting ONE LUCKY MOON with writer/director Peter Bogdanovich, a screwball high jinx comedy western with the music of Willie Nelson and Tom Petty.
Kimberly is currently producing, casting and directing the pilot episode of a new historical series WAYWARD GIRLS.
ARENA STAGE - Victor Elán Vazquez, Casting Director/Artistic Associate - oversees casting for full season of shows, including upcoming productions of THE PAJAMA GAME, Nina Simone: FOUR WOMEN, and World-Premiere Musical SNOW CHILD.
Victor also holds five playwright commissions with the award-winning professional theatre company 24th Street Theatre, Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival, and Los Angeles Shakespeare Center.
ANNE CHAPMAN CASTING - Anne Chapman, CSA, Casting Director - Spielberg's LINCOLN, LOVING, SHOOTING THE PRODIGAL, BIG STONE GAP and over 150 other films.
Anne serves as the Workforce Development Liaison for The Virginia Film Office, organizing training seminars for the local film industry. She is an adjunct faculty member for VCUarts Cinema and has overseen the casting of scores of 35mm student films since 2007.
The Special Guest Judges will begin the event with a panel discussion focused on the DC market, their casting process and answer questions from actors and other industry pros.
Then SLAM actors have exactly one-minute to perform a monologue which they have prepared. It's fast, fun and the audience votes on their favorite monologue, deciding the winner.
A Moonlit Mixer follows with networking and a casual celebration. All attendees are encouraged to bring business cards to share while mixing and mingling.
"Only together can we raise the bar for film and theater in the National Capital Area. The SLAM and Moonlit Mixer brings together professionals in our community for a special evening of entertainment and networking," says Walid Chaya, Founding Artistic Director of Moonlit Wings and event host.
Walid continues, "The event is interactive with something for everyone. Twenty actors perform in a speedy but stress-free monologue SLAM for three of the busiest Casting Directors in town, audience's vote decides the winner."
