Fairfax County & Herndon, VA: Hiring Drama Instructors for Fall After-School and Evening Classes, and Camp Counselors for Seasonal Day Camps
ABOUT
Moonlit Wings Productions is the leading producer of theater-for-youth in Fairfax County, VA, just outside Washington DC, with award-winning Performing Arts programs for kids ages 7-14 and teens ages 14-18.
This position is ideal for freelance teaching artists, as we offer several part-time programs and can accommodate unique schedules based on your availability.

Our Drama Instructors and Camp Counselors work seasonally and part-time to teach at various venues in Fairfax County. Classes run from 7 to 10 weeks, meeting once a week with a final presentation for family and friends. Seasonal camps focus on producing a play and are offered during student holidays (winter break, spring break, and summer).
We will be celebrating our 16th season!

POSITION DATES & TIMES
FALL CLASSES
You can apply to teach at one or multiple days and locations. Classes run from 7 to 10 weeks and meet once a week.
Class Dates: September to December 2024 (part-time)
Times: Mid-afternoon and evenings (choose one or both)
Frequency & Schedule: Minimum of once a week, with the possibility of teaching multiple days a week. Sessions are 1 to 3 hours each, though some shifts may be longer. The schedule is flexible and will be arranged based on your availability, interest, and experience. Some instructors teach upwards of 20+ hours a week with us.
FALL & WINTER CAMPS
You can apply to work one or multiple dates. *Camp pay differs from class pay.
Fall Camp Dates:
Oct 14, Nov 1, Nov 4-5
Winter Camp Dates:
Dec 23-24, 26-27, 30-31, Jan 2-3, 20, 29, Feb 17
Camp Times:
9am to 4pm ET Monday-Friday
Camps meet weekdays from Monday to Friday and run one or two weeks. Camps meet over fall, winter and spring breaks and run all summer from June to August.
SALARY/RATES

Classes pay starts at $30 per hour DOE

Camps pay $500 to $525+ per week DOE

Pay based on experience, scheduling and budget per program

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

Develop and implement plans for the curriculum program assigned using provided materials and program framework.

Prepare lessons in acting, improvisation, and theatre arts.

Plan and use appropriate instructional/learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflects accommodation for individual needs of students assigned.

Present a positive role model for students that supports the mission of the student code.

Create a classroom environment conducive to learning.
-
Manage student behavior in the classroom and administer discipline according to board policies, regulations, and IEP.

Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents.
-
Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members.

Participate in the district staff development program.
-
Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
POSITION DETAILS:

Program materials/scripts will be provided.

Must be able to commute and self-transport to programs in Fairfax County, VA.
EXPERIENCE:
